At least six people died in a massive fire that broke out at a private hospital in Dindigul district. At least 29 patients from the hospital have been shifted to Dindigul Government Hospital.

At least six people died after a massive fire broke out at a private hospital in Tamil Nadu's Dindigul district on Thursday. According to a senior government official, at least 29 patients were shifted from the private hospital to the Dindigul Government Hospital.

The district collector and other senior officials visited the site to oversee the rescue and relief operations. "A fire broke out at a private hospital about two hours ago.

The patients here have been rescued and admitted to nearby government and private hospitals. There could be some casualties, but we will confirm the number of deaths only after confirmation from doctors," Dindigul District Collector MN Poongodi said as quoted by news agency ANI.

"We are working to control the situation and ensure the safety of everyone involved," said a senior official from the fire and rescue department.

An official from the hospital said, "The situation is being assessed, and we are cooperating with emergency responders". The cause of the fire and extent of damage is yet to be ascertained.
