The internet was mighty impressed with Mohammed Siraj’s decision to donate the Player of the Match cash prize to Colombo ground staff. The Mahindra Group Chairman, Anand Mahindra, was also moved by the player’s wonderful gesture. He dedicated a post to Siraj on X and hailed him for his contribution.
“Just one word: CLASS. It doesn’t come from your wealth or your background. It comes from within,” Anand Mahindra wrote.
The Asia Cup final witnessed a spectacular performance by Siraj. The match, which saw India triumph over Sri Lanka with a 10-wicket victory, was dominated by Siraj's exceptional bowling spell. He claimed six wickets for just 21 runs, decimating the Sri Lankan team and setting up India's win. This feat made him the fourth bowler in ODI history to take four wickets in an over.
After he received the Payer Of The Match award, he decided to give away the cash prize to the ground staff in Colombo. "This cash prize goes to the groundsmen. If they weren't there, this tournament wouldn't have been possible. They deserve all the credit," said Siraj.
Not just Anand Mahindra, stars like SS Rajamouli, Mahesh Babu, Vicky Kaushal and Anushka Sharma lauded the pacer for his swashbuckling performance.
