Citing a preliminary pathological report, the Israel Defense Forces said Noa Marciano’s injury was not life-threatening but she was murdered by a Hamas terrorist in the Al-Shifa hospital.
The Israeli Defence Forces claimed that Noa Marciano, the teenage Israeli woman soldier who was found dead a few days back, was murdered by Hamas though she had the scope for survival after being injured by an Israeli Air Forces strike.
In a social media post, the IDF on Monday claimed that Noa Marciano – held hostage by Hamas -- was injured by an IAF strike on November 9, while the terrorist holding her hostage was neutralized.
“Following a preliminary pathological report, it was revealed that Noa’s injury was not life-threatening. Noa was murdered by a Hamas terrorist in the Shifa Hospital,” the IDF wrote in the post on X, with a video of an Israeli military spokesperson.
“The IDF will continue to support the Marciano family and operate in every way possible to return the hostages home,” the post further said.
The IDF troops had found 19-year-old Corporal Noa Marciano's body next to Gaza's largest hospital, Al-Shifa, on Friday.
"19 year old CPL Noa Marciano was abducted and murdered by Hamas terrorists on October 7. Her body was found and extracted by IDF troops adjacent to the Shifa Hospital in Gaza. The IDF sends its heartfelt condolences to the family and will continue to support them," the IDF had written in a post on X, sharing a picture of her.
The Israeli military forces had on Wednesday conducted a raid on the Al-Shifa Hospital, even as it continues to intensify attack there.
The Israeli army says Hamas uses residential and other civilian buildings as cover for command centers, weapons caches, rocket launchpads and a vast underground tunnel network – and Al-Shifa, Gaza’s largest hospital, is a part of this. The Islamist movement denies using human shields to wage war.
The Israel-Hamas war has been ongoing for over a month. Israel has been relentlessly bombarding Gaza in retaliation for Hamas's October 7 attack, that took over 1,200 lives. The death toll in Gaza stands at 13,000, including over 4,700 children.
